About

I originally started this as a costuming blog, but I have decided that a single topic is too limiting.  I have a number of creative outlets, so I have decided to let this blog encompass all of them.

I have always been interested in a lot of things.  Sometimes I think that I may have TOO many interests, since as soon as I get started with one project something else intrudes upon my thoughts and I get sidetracked.  The other problem I seem to have is becoming obsessed with making absolutely everything.  If I get interested in calligraphy, for example, I want to make the ink, the paper, EVERYTHING.  This is a bit of a problem that I am trying to overcome, because every new interest adds about ten trillion things that I want to fabricate for myself.  Obviously this doesn’t work too well, because I never actually get around to the calligraphy because I am bogged down in thoughts about how to make paper, where to get supplies to make ink, and the original interest gets lost in the shuffle.

As you can imagine this sort of mentality lends itself to a cornucopia of projects and ideas for things that I want to try–leather working, costuming, calligraphy, photography, whatever.  I am hoping that starting this blog will leave a record of where I am trying to go, and hopefully help to keep me on track.

An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.
